Garden Program
Nature-Based Learning
Each Valor campus creates and maintains a school garden. This unique feature of Valor’s program enables students to develop a sense of wonder about the natural world, an appreciation for the environment, and an attentiveness to living things. Students and faculty are involved in the planning, construction, and planting of the garden. In grades K-8, weekly age-appropriate, hands-on science and nutrition lessons incorporate the school garden within the curriculum. An Upper School Garden Club is also offered. Instruction includes topics related to ecology, plant growth, scientific observation, life cycles, organisms, soil, food production, and nutrition.
