Human Encounter Program
A full human education requires our students to have authentic experiences outside their classrooms. Through Valor’s Human Encounter program, students spend meaningful time with the elderly, people with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged individuals in their community, forging new relationships with those who come from different backgrounds and embracing more fully our common humanity. Students learn to be fully present with others, to appreciate those who are different, and to grow in solidarity, empathy, and compassion. In conjunction with these activities, the program includes related readings, reflections, and discussions to connect these experiences to students' lives.
