Dr. Jonathan Sanford
President, University of Dallas
Dr. Jonathan J. Sanford currently serves as tenth President of the University of Dallas. He began his time at the University of Dallas as Dean of Constantin College of Liberal Arts in 2015 and was elevated to provost in 2018. Dr. Sanford served at the Franciscan University of Steubenville for 13 years before joining the University of Dallas. In addition to his academic responsibilities at Franciscan University, Dr. Sanford held the administrative positions of associate vice president for academic affairs and chair of philosophy.
He received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Buffalo in 2001. Dr. Sanford has published widely on foundational questions of moral philosophy, including the critically acclaimed book Before Virtue: Assessing Contemporary Virtue Ethics, as well as a work in progress on virtue and education. Dr. Sanford is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hildebrand Project, a member of Legatus, and a Fellow of the Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture.
