As more details about the eclipse emerge, including the large crowds that it is anticipated to draw, we have decided to close all Valor schools for Monday, April 8. We believe this is the best and safest choice for our students and their families, given the overall logistical challenges and potential infrastructure difficulties with the city that the eclipse may cause. Most athletics will be canceled. Please check in with your child's coach for questions regarding athletics. School will resume as usual on Tuesday, April 9.
As your child’s primary educator, please take this opportunity to share this experience as a family, which is being called by many “once in a lifetime.” In partnership with you, we will be having various lessons the week before to prepare students. We will also be sending home ISO certified sunglasses for students to wear to protect their eyes while viewing the eclipse with you. Additionally, there are many great resources online to learn more, such as NASA’s eclipse webpage. We know that our students will approach this unique opportunity with wonder and delight.
Our makeup day will be on Friday, May 31. Please note the following changes for the final week of school:
Monday, May 27 – No School
Tuesday, May 28 – Full School Day for Lower and Upper School
Wednesday, May 29 – Full School Day for Lower School. Early Release for Upper School
Thursday, May 30 – Full School Day for Lower School. Early Release for Upper School
Friday, May 31 – Early Release for Lower and Upper School
We appreciate your understanding as we ensure the safety of our students and navigate this rare and unprecedented event.
